Gates in FRP |
Sr. No | Head | Mild steel fabricated gate | Wooden gate | FRP gate |
1 | Leakage | Limitation in fabrication cause | Leakage from joints are | Due to moulded structure |
2 | Transport | Heavy weight, so difficult in interior transport. | Extremely heavy and very difficult for internal transport | Light in weight and can easily transport even by head load |
3 | Corrosion | Heavy corrosion | No corrosion | 100% anticorrosive. |
4 | Maintenance | Every year painting and | Due to water contact wood | No maintenance |
5 | Durability | Due to corrosion, life is limited. | Due to life is too small | Maximum durable even upto 30 to 40 years. |
6 | Resale | Good resale value | Good resale value | No resale value |
7 | Economy | Economical in initial cost but including maintenance cost and limited life, ultimately proves very costly | Initial cost is minimum but life is too short that in long duration very uneconomical | Initial cost is two to three times compare to steel, but no maintenance and life is highest |
